Kids don’t generally gravitate towards exercise. These games can keep them moving and they will be having so much fun that they won’t realize they are being healthy as well.
.Tag: What’s so great about this game is that it’s easy enough that kids of all ages can play it. Above and beyond that it involves a great deal of running and playing catch up with the “tagger” so kids are burning crazy calories and don’t even know it. Easy for them to play and keeps them healthy—it doesn’t get much better than that!
.Ring Around the Rosie: Though it may seem like a childish game, it can provide hours of entertainment. On top of that as the kids walk around the circle and then get up and down, they are getting in their fair share of exercise and really don’t even realize it.
.Red Rover: Kids are constantly on their feet as they wait to see who will be called, so they are practically hopping and jumping in anticipation. Then there’s running and a physical challenge for them to get across which makes it that much better.
.Hopscotch: You are constantly hopping in this game, as well as jumping. This means that there is a great deal of physical activity and that will keep them healthy for sure. This is easy enough to set up and provides hours of entertainment and physical activity.
.Jump Rope: There’s a reason why so many workouts now incorporate this powerful tool that takes you back to your childhood. Kids can have great fun as they jump rope yet they don’t realize just how healthy this is for them. It’s best to keep the secret to yourself and let them keep on jumping.
.Capture the Flag: This game is all about skill, agility, and activity so kids get a bit of everything as they play. Kids have to chase around their competition to try and get a hold of the flag that is hidden somewhere. They use their brains and their bodies, so they are doubly as healthy in this game.
.Hide and Seek: This takes you back to your childhood and you probably never even realized that it was actually good for you. If you aren’t running then you are hiding and then you are standing at attention. You need brains, wit, and some physical fitness to do well at this game.
.Duck Duck Goose: Though a bit more subdued, the chase that ensues when somebody is tagged makes for a rather intense “workout”. Kids can play with their friends and get in a healthy dose of exercise.
.Hoola Hoop: This has made a comeback just like the jump rope and kids and adults everywhere are enjoying the benefits. This can contribute to a strong core and that’s fundamentally important for all aspects of health. So your kids don’t have to realize just how much fun it is as they do it.
.Four Square: This ball game is great for keeping in shape, but more importantly keeps kids in a constant state of activity. They are too busy having fun with their friends and avoiding getting tagged out to notice that they are exercising.
Kids don’t have to know that what they do is good for them. These games are fun but will be sure to keep your little ones healthy and strong.
